One reason why I love studying public health and social work is that you constantly see their connections to every day life. I wanted a way to document that, and this is my attempt to do so (away from facebook and fb friends who don’t care about my politics).

So if you have (s)tumbled onto this page, you’re probably curious about what I think. No promises that there will be lots of (or any) analysis here, but at least you’ll get to see what items intrigue me.

You’ll see how a public health and social work education intersects with my identity as a CO-native, 2nd generation Vietnamese immigrant, daughter of political refugees, and wife of a Marine who aspires to work with military families and immigrants and refugees on issues of trauma, PTSD, displacement, and life transitions in order to achieve overall improved health outcomes. And hopefully I’ll get to do all this from clinical, programmatic, and policy approaches.

In terms of my politics, I used to describe myself as a bit left of center, but I’ve increasingly become more left than center (thank you Brown education, amazingly smart friends, crazy-scary Conservative politics, and employment in public health).

This tumblr site will reflect all that.

And I am going to apologize now if there are any passive-aggressive posts on here, especially to my friends/acquaintances whose political views differ from mine. I will, however, always welcome deeper explorations and debates of knowledge and opinions. And if my more knowledgeable friends out there would like to add to my life education, please do so!

Happy reading!
